Terms

  • Camp: Refers to an approved event held monthly or annually.
  • Seminar: Refers to an event scheduled as a “one time” event or a short series or phases of events to teach a complete subject matter. (Example: Konigun is invited as guest teachers at another style’s dojo or camp to teach weapons, grappling, etc.)

Events

Main Events

The main events are:
  • The Homage is held to pay homage to the people that made the past year memorable. This event always encompasses New Year’s Day (January 1st).
  • The Pilgrimage is a trip to Japan. This event is held in April.
  • The Gathering is an event lasting nine days starting on Saturday of the second weekend of July and ending on the Sunday of the third weekend of July. The event is for students.
  • The Conclave is an event only for Konigun Black Sash starting on the Saturday of the fourth weekend of July and continuing for nine days.
  • The Accolade is held in October for the advancement of Konigun Black Sash. It may happen on difference weekends for different states. It is listed simply to denote its month.

Taikai

The Taikai are state wide one- or two-day training camps designed to provide one or more of the following points:
  • Pre-Test Review - Training to assist in preparation for test.
  • Promotion Testing - For moving up in student ranks.
  • Weapons Training - Designed to fulfill the weapons requirements necessary for promotion.
  • Advanced Training - For those persons not testing.

Note: The Big Events begin in January and are held three months apart (January, April, July, and October) to allow the greatest chance for attendance. The Taikai are held every three weeks to serve the students with interruptions only for the big named events. Seminars are scheduled via request.
